Ella Gaffney.
Ella is a Senior Lawyer in the dispute resolution team at Downie Stewart. Ella specialises in employment law, relationship property, and civil litigation. Her expertise encompasses a wide range of matters, including mediations, Employment Relations Authority investigations, Family Court hearings, limited licence applications and more.
Ella was inspired to join the legal profession by Mark Heneghan, former Dean of the Law Faculty at the University of Otago. After graduating from the University of Otago in 2017, she began her career at a boutique environmental law firm in Christchurch before returning to Dunedin to join Community Law Otago for three fulfilling years, eventually finding her place here at Downie Stewart. Ella thrives in our supportive work culture, where collaboration and assistance are readily available.
Outside of her legal endeavors, Ella enjoys spending quality time with her husband and their dog, Quinn. They can often be found exploring local beaches and dog parks, or at home working in their garden. Ella also indulges in various crafting activities, including crochet, sewing and painting.
