Press Release 7 November 2014
One of the legal fraternity's highest national honours has been bestowed on a Dunedin firm.
Downie Stewart Lawyers this week won Regional/Suburban Law Firm of the Year at the 10th annual New Zealand Law Awards held in Auckland.
The award acknowledges excellent client service and leading expertise in advising across a broad range of practice areas.
Downie Stewart was selected from five finalists and was the only South Island firm to reach the finals.
Partner Gerard DeCourcy, who accepted the award said, "It is very encouraging to be recognised in this way. We have a great team of people delivering a high quality service and that really is the key to our success. And we are lucky enough to be able to do it all from beautiful Dunedin."
This week's win is not the first for Downie Stewart. In 2012 the firm won the Supreme Award for Employer of Choice after being judged the best law firm to work for in New Zealand.
Downie Stewart Lawyers was founded in 1867 by William Downie Stewart. The firm employs 30 staff with offices in Dunedin and Balclutha.
