Gerard De Courcy.

Gerard brings a wealth of experience to our firm, specialising in business, trusts, commercial transactions, property, and family issues. As a seasoned professional, he resolves complex legal issues with precision and proficiency.

Gerard is often appointed as a mediator and independent lawyer by other professionals and the Courts, dealing with conflicts of interest or advice. He is also an Associate (mediation) of the Arbitrators & Mediators Institute of New Zealand.

Beyond his legal practice, Gerard is a contributing author to Thomson Reuters (Partnership and Joint Ventures) and lectures on Business Law in the School of Business, University of Otago

A former nationally ranked squash player and Chair of both Squash New Zealand and the World Squash Federation, Gerard currently Chairs the World Squash Federation Disciplinary Commission. He maintains an active involvement in sports.

Committed to community service, Gerard has served in several voluntary and leadership roles, including as Past President of the Otago Branch of the New Zealand Law Society.

Gerard has chaired Recovered Living NZ since its inception. Recovered Living established a Residential Treatment Centre for eating disorders in North Canterbury which is operated as a charity on a not-for-profit basis. This has brought a world class treatment option to New Zealand.

Gerard is married with two adult daughters and enjoys family time and sports, playing soccer for Roslyn Wakari and maintaining memberships at St Clair Golf Club and the Otago Squash Club.
